LO RAYS

LO RAYS

Finnish singer Laura Takala formed the band after moving to Glasgow in 2018, following her dream to make music in the footsteps of her heroes Biffy Clyro. She met Ryan Jones (bass), Scott Bathgate (guitar/production) and Murray Bartle (drums) at a gig in the Scottish music scene. Drawing inspiration from bands like Bad Omens, Enter Shikari and Cassyette, Lo Rays’ music is made up of gritty synthesizers, heavy guitar riffs and pop hooks.

Since the release of their self produced EP ‘Algorithm Gods’ in 2023, Lo Rays have started to make waves in the Scottish and UK scene. Their 2024 single “Freak” was given track of the week on BBC Introducing Scotland, and they were nominated for the BBC Scottish Act of the Year Award in 2025. Lo Rays has supported the likes of I See Stars, North Atlas and VUKOVI. They were longlisted for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition in 2024 and named “One to Watch” by Alyx Holcombe on BBC Radio 1 in 2025.
